With Off trade sales up 37%, a brand new advertising campaign, as well as the launch of “The Lighthouse Collection” a new range of lighter alcohol wines at the LIWF, Arniston Bay looks set to enjoy another record year of shipments from South Africa to the UK in 2009.
The sales uplift has come as positive news to brand owners the company of wine peopleTM who, in partnership with Ehrmanns, have spent the past three years investing time and money in repackaging the brand, adding new tiers and launching the pouch: a true wine market innovation.

Oh we like a challenge. Around six months ago the thought of taking on the three peaks - climbing the three highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales in 24 hours - seemed like a good one. A nice physical challenge in aid of charity! The idea of raising money for two charities close to Ehrmanns' heart - Pancreatic Cancer UK and Cancer Research - was good enough for 7 volunteers to sign up, namely Mark Chapman, John Brimmer, Duncan Smith, Kim Wilson, Daniela Shelton and Felicity Billington. And Calr Burdett and Keith Lay were soon roped in as co-drivers and chefs.

Ehrmanns re-asserts its position as leading distributor of Fairtrade wines in the UK with the launch of two new brands from newly certified Chilean winery, Consorcio Vinicola de Chile (CVC*). Los Unidos is set to replace Los Robles for multiple and impulse customers, with Waitrose being first to market, and Los Troncos will replace Los Almendros in the EIS portfolio which is exclusive to On-trade and independents.

Brand announces sales uplift (click bold title for full story)In spite of the economic downturn, latest Nielsen figures reveal that off trade sales of the South African wine brand, Arniston Bay, are up 35.4% by value and 37.1% by volume and up 47% by both value and volume in the impulse sector (52 weeks to 29th Dec 2008).
The news comes as the South African wine category also storms ahead of its competitors, up 23.6% by value and 22% by volume.
The sales uplift is positive news for brand owners, the company of wine people, who have spent the past three years refreshing the flagship wine brand which saw a brief downturn in sales in conjunction with the South African wine category as whole.
